1981 Deannie Peters

Dean Marie Pyle Peters went missing February 5, 1981 from Forest Hills Central Middle School in Ada, Michigan. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown ski jacket, a pink sweater and jeans. She was also wearing a cream-colored scarf with the word ‘ski’ written on it with dark brown lettering. She was 5’3″ tall when she disappeared at age 14.

On February 5, 1981 Deanie attended her brother’s wrestling tournament in Ada, Michigan, which is east of Grand Rapids. She was last seen by her mother at an afterschool program when she excused herself to go to the ladies’ restroom, but she never came back. The students who were thought to have maybe of seen Deanie that night were contacted by the school principal, but none of them could place her near any school restrooms. Deanie left her wallet and make-up home and was known to never go anywhere without her make-up. Police couldn’t find any reason for her disappearance. She had no history of running away.

So what happened to her? Was she kidnapped from inside or outside the school? Was she taken against her will, by someone she knew or by a stranger? Did she go willingly with someone but met with foul play later? Did she somehow have an accidental death? Is she still alive, living a happy life? Deanie was declared legally dead in 1991, ten years after she vanished. Her disappearance is considered one of the biggest mysteries in Kent County.
